   The Pro Mag 12 series is designed for everything from circle track cars to alcohol dragsters. With 12 amps of primary current and powerful sparks that last for up to 26° of crankshaft rotation, the Pro Mag 12 is more than capable of lighting your race fuel completely for total combustion and the most power.

   Of course, all this spark energy is useless without accurate ignition timing. To make sure the Pro Mag’s fire reaches the spark plugs at the exact moment, our engineers did away with mechanical points in favor of our race proven magnetic pickup to trigger the Pro Mag. This pickup is much more accurate than points and never requires adjustment or replacement. A precision manufactured reluctor attached to the Mag’s shaft is responsible for triggering the mag pickup at the precise moment.

   This trigger signal goes into the Electronic Points Box that also houses the coil and rev limiting functions of the Mag. Here the generator’s spark energy is controlled through unique electrical circuits and delivered to the epoxy filled coil where the voltage is stepped up through specially designed windings.

GENERATORS

   There are several generator assemblies available in the Pro Mag 12 rankings but they all share the same power producing circuits and design. Each MSD Red anodized housing is CNC machined from a billet of 6061-T6 aluminum forming an extremely strong housing with exact tolerances. Inside, a hardened 0.500" steel shaft is used with sealed ball bearings providing extra support for precise timing at high rpm plus a long, maintenance-free life.

   The generator enlists 16 rare earth magnets that are incredibly strong and never require recharging! These remarkable magnets are arranged in a unique power assembly responsible for producing up to 12 amps! The magnets and windings are held secure within an epoxy compound for protection against severe racing vibrations.

   There are three different generator housings available for the Pro Mag 12 and each one is designed for performance and endurance throughout severe racing applications.
