Ignition tester

Use
on Top Fuel and Alcohol cars to test the actual operation of the six-shooter
and retard unit, PN 8168. Timing changes will occur in real time and
the amount of retard can also be verified. The data can be viewed on
the Race Pak software without starting the engine.
The
ignition tester will simulate the engine running through the Pro
Mag Timing Retard, allowing the RacePak to record the actual time
of retard and amount of retard. This tool can aid in trouble shooting
the sequence of the six-shooter activation, pressure switches, and
timers.
1.
Connect the ignition tester to power (+12 V) using the red wire
and ground - black wire.
2.
Connect cable harness with single 3 pin connector to the RacePak
TDC indicator pickup harness. The 2 pin connectors (2 pair) connect
to crank trigger pickup input harness of the retard box.
3.
Turn on the RacePak computer, and activate WOT switch to start
the timers. With the WOT switch activated, rotate the tester RPM
control knob through different rpm ranges to simulate a run on
the track.
4.
Once the timers have run their course, the data can be downloaded
and checked for accuracy in both time of actuation and amount of
retard.
