Three LEDs show when the unit is powered and when the retard stage is activated.

PRO MAG TIMING RETARD
Ignition timing is always a compromise of power because one setting will not produce optimum power throughout the entire rpm range of your engine. The Pro Mag Retard Control allows you to compensate for these changes by retarding the timing when you want, and how much you want.

The Timing Retard features two separate channels so it can be used with single or dual Pro Mag systems. The amount of retard is controlled with MSD retard modules and up to 15° can be removed. The retard is activated with two activation wires and can be controlled manually or through a timer or rpm activated switch. There is a built-in tach output terminal that can be used to trigger an rpm activated switch plus there’s an LED that indicates when the retard for each channel is activated.

• Retard the ignition timing at a precise moment.
• Two channels for dual Pro-Mag setups.
• Adjustable retard amount for total control.
• Accepts a Module Selector for multiple stages of retard.

The Pro Mag Timing Retard is supplied with retard modules for 1° - 10°, vibration mounts and shielded harnesses.

Note: For use with all MSD Pro Mags and a 12 volt source is required.

The Six Shooter conveniently mounts beneath the Pro Mag Timing Control to save space.

SIX SHOOTER

When you really want control over your engine’s timing, the Six Shooter is the answer! Six different retard stages can be activated at select times for total control over the magneto’s timing all the way down the track.

There are six retard stages available for each Pro Mag (dual systems) and each stage has its own activation wire. The Shooter must be used with the Pro Mag Timing Control, PN 8168, and is designed to be mounted right below it so installation is simple. Each retard of the Shooter is separate and is activated when 12 volts are supplied to its corresponding activation wire.

TACH CONVETER

The output signal that is used to trigger magnetos is different than a conventional electronic ignition. This compact device converts the Pro Mag’s coil signal into a 12 volt square wave signal so common tachometers designed for electronic ignitions can be used with the Pro Mag. The Converter is less than three inches in length and its circuits are encased in epoxy for water and vibration resistance.

Note: Requires a 12 volt source. Also operates with Mallory and Vertex magnetos.

INDUCTIVE PICKUP CABLE

If you are using an inductive tachometer or a data retrieval system, this short wiring harness is just what you need to pickup an rpm signal from the Pro Mag. The Pickup Cable plugs directly between the magneto and the Electronic Points Box and a short wire loop is routed in the harness so your inductive pickup can be spliced in.

PRO BATTERY PACK

Since more racers are using accessories that require a 12 volt source, it was up to MSD to deliver a battery pack that can endure the toughest conditions while supplying the required current and voltage.

This chart shows the discharge time of the Pro-Battery with different current draws. It is recommended to add up your current demands to determine an approximation of the total load that will be placed on the battery.

The MSD Pro Mag Battery Pack is a 14.4 volt, 3 Amp per Hour battery that is capable of powering 12 volt ignition accessories for engines using a magneto. It is designed with Nickel Metal Hydride technology which produces up to three times the energy density of a NiCad style battery pack. Plus the battery is engineered to handle extreme vibrations for racing applications and the outer housing can even be replaced.

SMART CHARGER

The MSD Smart Charger is specifically designed for the MSD Pro Battery Pack. It plugs into a 110 outlet and will charge the battery to full power in three and a half hours or less. Once the battery reaches full charge, the Smart Charger will automatically switch to a trickle charge.

There is an LED on the side of the charger that indicates the status of the Pro-Battery while it is charging and when the charge is complete.
