   MSD offers two water pumps depending on your application. These pumps have the same features as popular KSE pumps with Swept Vane technology for improved cooling.

 

Pro-Billet Front Cover

   This one piece front cover is a work of machining art. MSD starts with a billet of 2024-T351 aluminum that offers incredible strength especially at elevated temperatures. This alloy block goes through a long series of machining on a state-of-the-art CNC machine resulting in a front cover that weighs less than 1.5 pounds while still providing an incredibly strong mounting foundation for the oil pump and water pump.

   The Hubs of the MSD are sealed off from any oil so they run dry. This also makes viewing the timing indicator easy! Four rare earth magnets are embedded into these Hubs that are responsible for triggering the non-magnetic pickup of the Crank Trigger system. The precision CNC-machined hubs are available in stainless steel or titanium. The magnets are securely mounted and riveted in place.

   This coupler is molded from an elastomer and helps isolate harmonics between the crank drive and water pump.

   The MSD Front Cover assembly can also be used without the crank trigger system. The benefits include being able to accurately set the timing with our hub and degreed timing indicator, as well as our one piece front cover design and precision components. This hub is not equipped with the trigger magnets.

  This Tool provides three services in one! It makes installing the MSD hub, and removing it, easy. Due to the press fit of the Hub on the crankshaft, it is highly recommended to use this tool. Plus, it can easily be modified to accept a degree wheel to help when setting up the engine.

Crank Trigger to Generator Cross-Over Switch

  With an MSD Crank Trigger system, the timing is first set at the magneto to ensure correct rotor phasing. Then, the pickups are switched and the timing is checked and adjusted again at the crank trigger pickup. This switch allows you to start the car and be able to toggle between pickups with a switch. This way the car only needs to be started once.

   Also, by setting the generator slightly retarded over the crank trigger, the driver could switch pickups and have two timing settings. The crank trigger pickup will be used to get all of the power out of the engine, then by flipping the switch, the retarded generator pickup would soften some of the engine’s power as track conditions deteriorate.
