With
the Pro Mags incredible spark output and reliability, the advantages
are numerous. Now theres even more reason to go with MSD, the
Sprint Car Flying Magnet Crank Trigger System.
MSD engineers called upon our race experience from developing the Flying
Magnet Crank Trigger system and incorporated it into a complete Sprint
car system. The result will have engine builders finding power they
didnt know they had before.
One of the primary benefits of using a crank trigger system is that
the Pro Mag is triggered from the front of the crankshaft. This eliminates
any timing scatter that is caused by varying loads from the power steering
pump, fuel pump and camshaft harmonics. Also, the crankshaft is the
most consistent component of the engine when it comes to piston position
so there is no better place to gain a trigger signal.
The MSD system incorporates a dry hub that is fit with four powerful
magnets spaced 90° apart. As each magnet passes a stationary non-magnetic
pickup, it creates a signal to fire the Pro Mag. The hub is large enough
to easily resolve 1° timing changes. Also, the MSD system has a
timing window and dry indicator so there is no guess work when setting
the timing. It all adds up to rock solid timing at any rpm, precise
timing settings with easy adjustments, no oil spray, added endurance
coupled with the Pro Mags amazing power.
Eliminates timing fluctuations caused by the power steering and fuel
pumps.
The Pro Mag receives its trigger signal directly from the crankshaft.
Compact non-magnetic pickup can only be triggered by magnets
no false triggers.
Timing indicator allows the timing to be set more precisely.
A sealed timing sight window means no more hard to see scribed lines
or oily mess.
Easy to adjust pickup for timing changes and a scale from 20°-50°
makes accurate changes.
Strong one piece front cover only weighs 1.5 pounds.
Flexible elastomer coupler isolates harmonics between the crankshaft
and water pump.
Swept vane technology in the water pump increases water flow for improved
cooling.
